Actifloor™
When exposed to light, the surface acts as a giant natural filter.
As toxic molecules come into contact with the active surface, they are broken down and converted into harmless water and carbon dioxide molecules.
Case – Lauzon Flooring, Canada
In 2014 Lauzon Flooring launched Pure Genius™, a new line of products with the actiFLOOR™ technology. The products were the first of their kind in combining the actiFLOOR™ air purifying capability with a hardwood flooring system.
The product line has become exceptionally popular in the North American market and has been on the receiving end of several prestigious awards in both Canada, the US and Germany.
Photocat is proud to have helped Lauzon develop this new product line that has experienced growth and is at the forefront of environmentally friendly building materials.
Test using an airflow system and constant input of formaldehyde contaminant.
Pure Genius technology functions consistently and purifies air brought indoors by an air exchange system or other contamination sources in real-time. A formaldehyde degradation index of 28 PPB was obtained in standardized test conditions. For a single hour, up to 17,5% of a constant flow of formaldehyde compound contaminants were effectively removed. We can conservatively assume that the measured laboratory result obtained in an hour can be replicated for a full day in real-life conditions. Then, for 30 days, with cumulative action of 8 illuminated hours a day, up to 85% of the contaminants would be eliminated; no additional contaminants introduced. The level of formaldehyde in an average home is between 16 – 32.5 PPB (Health Canada). Pure Genius can reduce those levels to 5 PPB over 30 days – or a reduction of up to 85%. Levels of 40 PPB or more are harmful to your health (Health Canada).

Test using an airflow system and constant input of acetaldehyde contaminant.
Pure Genius technology functions consistently and purifies any new air brought in a home by an air exchange system or other contamination sources in real-time. An acetaldehyde degradation index of 400 PPB was obtained in standardized test conditions. For a single hour, up to 40% of a constant flow of acetaldehyde compound contaminants were removed. We can conservatively assume that the measured laboratory result obtained in an hour can be replicated for a full day in real-life conditions. Then, for 30 days, over cumulative action with cumulative action of 8 illuminated hours a day, up to 98,5% of the contaminant would be eliminated provided no additional contaminants were introduced.
The level of acetaldehyde in an average home is between 8.3 – 20 PPB (Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment). Pure Genius, may reduce those levels to 0,12 PPB over 30 days, which means a reduction of up to 98,5%. Levels over 5 PPM are harmful to your health (Health Canada).

Test measuring the capacity to degrade bacterial and microbial sources under standardized lighting.
Pure Genius was proven to inhibit the growth of certain bacteria, pathogens and microorganisms.
Common pathogens were reduced up to 99.6% after being exposed to Pure Genius for 8 hours in standardized conditions:
E.coli (ATCC 8739) 99.65%: causes gastroenteritis, urinary tract infections and neonatal meningitis
S.aureus (ATCC 6538P) 99.63%: an agent in the propagation of various skins conditions such as dermatitis
K.pneumoniae (ATCC 4352) 99.7%: a source of pneumonia
